stories and small items, with the intention to
reflect on our daily lives and make available new
actions to achieve results that are appropriate for
our purposes.
INDEX
Learning by doing
Perhaps paradoxically, some of the areas where
more can be learned are those where daily actions. Breathing, walking, eating,
talking, listening, coordinate actions with others. These are basic living
skills, we have learned in our childhood y. .. How long has it been since the
review?
Learning
from error
According to the dictionary, error is "unwise or
wrong action." Sure ... the dictionary does not
explain unwise or wrong about what ... or to
whom. We may then redefine the error as "the
action that produces an undesirable outcome for
somebody." This "someone" I can be myself, or,
in the organizational context, could be the
manager, customer, etc.
Vision and
Aspiration
Many of the
people I talk to feel a kind of emptiness ... as
a disorientation, a lack of sense. Something
similar happens in business: the goal of making
money, market, customers, not enough to motivate
and excite your employees.
The Own Way
In the last ...
50 years? has been installed in our civilized
society a very convenient habit: food packaging.
Vegetables, fruit, fish, soups ... canned (or
other similar container). I say it is very
convenient because it is practical, accessible,
comfortable, fast, clean. Sure, we know that
food has the same properties that the natural
food and obviously does not have the same taste
Human rights
What are the
rights that we have for the simple fact of being
human? What are our basic personal rights? In
our daily life, relationships with family,
friends, work, business ... What exercise rights
and respect? These individual rights have to do
with our dignity as people, our quality of life.
Decision
The decisions
we make in our lives are those that are building
a large extent, the way we travel and the
results we get. Many times we make decisions
without realizing it (unconsciously), others we
driven by our emotions (fear, anger). Sometimes
we decide to choosing between two alternatives
that satisfy us, without looking more likely.
Thus, the results we achieve, probably will not
be very happy.
Personal Crisis
Do you
sometimes happens to us, in living, that we are
as confused, without direction. We are confusing
ourselves in crisis. What we do when this
happens?
Sometimes we just, we move by inertia, put on
autopilot and let the circumstances, the routine
will lead us.
Talking
We live in the
chat like fish in water. Our daily life is spent
in the middle of conversations (or other
internal / s). Write an email, answer another,
read, reflect, order, order, discuss, evaluate,
question, comment ... Think, speak, listen. Our
conversations allow us to coordinate actions,
communicate and relate.
Control
In many of the
relationships we build in our daily lives we
move unconsciously from the pretense of control.
Try to control what the other person should do
(or not do), which says or should have said, his
emotions, what he thinks or feels about us ...
We establish these relationships in both the
family and society, as in the business.
Communicate
One of the
paradoxes that we live in today is that, in the
"communication age", there is a strong sense of
isolation. Advances in technology (Internet,
fax, cell phones, video conferencing, etc..)
Reduce distances, reduce times, but have failed
to reduce loneliness, lack of mutual
understanding, have facilitated solving the
problems we have to communicate with each other.
I have no time
One of the
phrases I hear quite often lately is "I have no
time" or "I need time." In the daily maelstrom
that we live seems that the "time" has become
very scarce resource these days.
What is happening to us over time?
Listening
When we talk,
speak and listen. We normally think that talking
is active and important part of the
conversation. We think that what you say is what
the other listens. Nothing is further from the
truth.
Talking and listening are both active, but
listening is what gives meaning to the
communication, as anyone who says anything he
says to be heard.
Meeting
Do you ever
feel moved that the meeting was special? As a
single, deeper ... As if instead I found you
with, for example, a doctor you had met a person
who knows or works as a medical doctor. Looks
the same, however it is not. In one case we put
forward the professional and the person,
sometimes not appear. In the other case is the
person, man, who appears in the first instance,
and its role, circumstantial, integrates and
accompanies, but does not hide as human beings.
And things happen differently in each case...
Forgiveness
Has anyone ever
failed you compromise? Have you ever suffered
what you believe is an injustice, harm or
injury? What emotions will awaken these
situations? Angry, anger, fear, resentment,
hatred, mistrust? Did you think you could
forgive?
Accept the pain
Sometimes, in
an ontological coaching conversation or in other
areas where we get in touch with ourselves, we
begin to discover our pains, our sorrows,
anguish, loneliness, fear, frustration,
disappointment, resentment, ... This experience
is in itself painful. Discover, contact, express
our own inner wounds ... hurts ... and released.
Resist change
Change is the
only constant in life. Resisting change is to
resist life. It simply does not work.
However, not all changes are desirable, we do
not care that another change. And that's where
we can intervene with our power of decision,
action and leadership, leading change, to guide
the direction that matters. This can be a
sometimes simple, sometimes complicated, and
others downright impossible, since many of the
changes that can be imported are outside our
area of influence.
Opportunities
There is much
talk of "seize the opportunities before us." It
seems to obvious. However, I wonder: Are there
opportunities or create them? How to seize an
opportunity that we are not seeing? What makes
it such an opportunity and not something else?
A New Look
What do we see
when we see what we see? Do we see an external
reality independent of us and our watch? Or do
we see a "reality" conditioned by our perceptual
mechanisms (biological) and our understanding
(mental model)?
Learning not to
know
Learning not to
know seems ... paradoxical. Whenever we learned
how to learn, to develop a competence, skill or
specific knowledge. However, in these times of
crisis, uncertainty and rapid change is becoming
more common to find in new situations not
foreseen, for which we were unprepared. May
wonder, then, how to be prepared for what they
do not know what will happen?
Leadership
I think there's
a new form of leadership that is emerging in the
world, and that has to do with values and
integrity. Integrity in the sense of coherence
between what is said and what we think, between
what is and what it's like: "Say what you feel,
do what I say and feel what I do."
Uncertainty
Life, in
general, and particularly human, is full of
uncertainty. Just as we say that the only
constant in the universe is change, we can say
that can only be certain of uncertainty.
Imagine
Imagine ...
imagine that one day, sorting and cleaning old
things, you come across an old lamp.
Imagine ... imagine that a genie comes out of it
as in the old familiar story grants you three
wishes.
Imagine ... Imagine what would you ask? What
things are important to you? What are your
dreams? What is your vision?
Expectations
effective
Expectations
about what we expect to happen is a major source
of ineffectiveness and suffering we face the
people, both in our workplace and personally.
When what we hope happens, usually we fall prey
to anger, resentment and frustration.
The Power of Words
There are
certain lessons that have great impact on our
possibilities and our lives. For example, when
we learn to stand up (as a species and as
individuals) have the ability to look from
another point, we can walk and run, we have more
agility. Not only this, but to liberate our arms
and our hands is a myriad of new possibilities
within our reach. Something similar happens with
language acquisition.
Asking
Why do we ask?
The first answer that comes to me is to ask ...
for an answer. And highlights the "one", because
often we are left with one answer and we believe
that the only answer is that this answer
satisfies the question. So, we closed the
question and there is no more possible answers.
Rediscover
Can we discover
what is new in the apparently old and familiar?
Can we discover in ourselves, something new and
different, so far passed unnoticed?
Undoubtedly yes, we can. Sometimes,
enough to just observe, self observe more
carefully and be aware of ourselves. Other
times, we need a teacher or someone to guide us,
or just someone to show us what we are not
seeing.
Respect
What do you
mean "Respect"? At the time of our grandparents,
demanding respect meant something like: "Do as I
say, and keep silent." Demand respect meant a
demand for submission and obedience. We believe
that this concept of respect is outdated, but
still exists in certain areas or people.
Add the
differences
What do we do
when we find someone who thinks or acts
differently from ours? Do you accept? Do you
reject? Do you tolerate? What about our jobs,
our social and family environment?
Working
"Work" What
does this word mean to you? What emotions awake?
It seems that in our society is considered, many
times, to work as a "necessary evil", a daily
sacrifice in order to receive payment for the
end of the month. We have, even a biblical
mandate that says "earn their bread by the sweat
of your brow" and interpret this as being normal
work to be sacrificed. Enjoy the work, may be
the possibility of a few lucky or maybe, in some
bohemian artist.
Vision
Usually when we
talk about vision, speech of Vision, talk about
the north that guides our direction, purpose or
goal to accomplish. Y. .. What about our vision
of this? Perhaps we
believe that this is given, that is, as we see
... and in this case would not make sense to
design a vision of it. However, if we accept
that we do not know how things are, if we become
aware that we have no access to reality as it
is, designing a vision of this begins to make
sense.
Reflections
This phrase: "Train yourself to let go of what you're afraid of losing" the last
week I heard in the film Episode III of Star Wars. I wondered what things that cause us fear losing infectivity and discomfort?
To exercise any
profession (engineer, doctor, accountant, etc.).
Must have trained in the skills of the
profession ... develop specific skills for the
exercise of this activity or job.
This is no novelty. However, it is
important to begin to realize that these
specific skills are necessary but not sufficient
for professional practice or the actual
development of jobs.
When we hear
the phrase "life is like a game," usually
associate it with a game of chance. However we
see several elements that are present in every
game, as in life. Here are some...
